Abbaye Notre-Dame de Scourmont. For most beer drinkers around the world, Chimay is synonymous with Trappist beer. Chimay was the first to sell its beers far and wide, not just in the immediate vicinity of the abbey, and they introduced the Trappist brand to a wider audience. Since 1862, the monks of the abbey have been brewing beer according to traditional Trappist principles, which emphasize quality, authentic recipes and self-sufficiency.

It is a dark brown colour and has a sweet, fruity aroma. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a sweet, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation.
