What is a cookie?

Cookies are files or pieces of information that get stored on the user's computer (or other internet enabled devices, such as smartphones or tablets), when visiting a Culinaris website. A cookie typically contains the website’s name, where the cookie originates from, the cookies’ “lifespan” (i.e. how long it will be stored on your computer device) and its number, which is typically a randomly generated unique number.

What are cookies used for?

We use cookies to make the Culinaris websites more user friendly, and more personalised. Cookies may also be used to make your future browsing activities on our website faster, and enhance the user experience. Also, they enable us to prepare anonymised summary statistics, which helps us better understand how visitors use the Culinaris websites, and help us make improvements to the websites’ structure and contents. This information does not make it possible for us to identify you.

Cookie types

Session cookies: these cookies have a temporary activation, while you are browsing, meaning from the time you opened your web browser, to the time you close it. Once your browser is closed, all session cookies are deleted.

Permanent (analytical/performance) cookies: These cookies enable our system to recognise and count the number of website visitors, and to find out how the users navigate on the websites during use. This helps us improve the operations of our website (to enable our visitors find what they need, easier). These cookies are stored at the user’s computer device for the duration set for the cookie. They get activated every time the user visits the website.

Our own (functional) cookies: These cookies allow us to recognise you (or your computer or web browser), when you visit our website next time. This enables us to personalise the contents we offer you, and we are able to personally greet you, by your name, and may save your preferences (such as the language used, and the geographical region).

Third party cookies: when a user visits a website, another party (such as Facebook) activates the cookies, via the website.

What type of cookies do we use?

Culinaris.hu PHPSession - Expires upon the session ending, and stores your personal user settings (e.g. currency preference, language settings).

Google Analytics – visitor statistics analytic service cookies used by Google, to analyse user activity in a way not enabling personal identification (e.g. first visit or not).

Culinaris.hu functional cookies – facilitate the correct functioning of various screen items providing information, by memorising whether the given user has already seen the given information, and if so, will not display it again (subscription related information, acceptance of the cookie use notice).

Functional cookies used by Facebook, Google+ and other third parties - to remember and manage the status of the buttons placed at the bottom of each item, such as “Like”, “Share” and “G+1”. You may find further information on this at the Facebook and Google Plus websites.

How can I check or delete cookies?

Most web browsers have the initial settings to accept cookies without user intervention, and/or without sending a notice to the user. You may change these settings to block cookies, or request a notification, when any website you visit sets cookies on your device. You can manage cookies in several ways. Please check your web browser information or the Help page, if you wish to find out more about your web browser settings and how to change them.
