The estate was built in 1860. In the beginning, it was a farm with a barn, but in 1965 the barn was converted into a cellar. Paul Bara, the current owner, Chantale's father, was the first of the dynasty to produce champagne under the same brand name in the 1950s. In 1975, the Bara champagne house was one of the first to export its champagnes to the United States in an innovative way. Today, Paul Bara champagnes are sold on all continents of the world. In 2013, a large-scale renovation program began in the winery, the result of which was an increase in winemaking capacity. The house's head winemaker, Christian Forget, a specialist in pinot noir, strives to preserve the House's character by producing well-structured and elegant wines, fully expressing the terroir of Bouzy. Today, the history of the house continues with the family and a passionate, loyal team who know how to balance tradition and innovation to meet current requirements and enable continuous development.
