The family winery is located in the municipality of Joching in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. It is run by Johann and Monika Schmelz, who are supported by their two sons Florian and Thomas. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vines in the Buschenberg, Dürnsteiner Freiheit, Höhereck, Pichl Point, Stein am Rain and Steinriegl vineyards. The vineyards extend along the Danube for six kilometres between the municipalities of Wösendorf and Unterloiben. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner (60%), Riesling (30%), Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller and Weißburgunder are cultivated. The winery is a member of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus association.
