All Mermaid gins are made on the island of "Isle of Wight" belonging to the United Kingdom, and the distillery was named after the island. Founded in 2014 by Xavier Baker & Conrad Gauntlett, the distillery is the island's first and only distillery. A small family business that puts great emphasis on local ingredients, teamwork and the creation of a unique character.
The most defining ingredient of this gin and the most unique to the island is sea fennel, which, according to legends, could be the savior of shipwrecked people, like the mermaid's kiss, because it clings to the rocks and thus marks the level of the tide.
