Sometimes one can find a treasure where they least expect it. In Bodrogkisfalud, at the foot of the Zemplén Mountains in the Tokaj wine region, we found ourselves similarly surprised. Upon arriving at Seven Hills Distillery, a classic Zemplén farmhouse unfolds before our eyes. However, it is only when we step inside that the cutting-edge technology becomes visible, enabling the distillery's experts to craft their excellent spirits – whisky and gin. The distillery seamlessly combines state-of-the-art technology with expertise and respect for traditions. Their first small-batch commercial release is a unique Tokaji Gin, crafted with 21 locally characteristic spices. Amidst the woody-floral scents of the Zemplén landscape, one can discover classic citrus notes and an important ingredient of Tokaji Aszú, the linden leaf grape. Each sip pays homage to the treasures bestowed by nature and the expertise and care invested in creating this outstanding gin.
In its aroma, alongside deceptive citrus notes, distinctive spiciness, floral tones, and the scent of linden leaf grapes also emerge. Upon tasting, beyond the richness of juniper and citrus, the characteristic floral notes and spices of the region are revealed. The sip is full and rich, truly excellent. The finish lingers long in the mouth, alongside distinctive spiciness, floral notes, and the aroma of linden leaf grapes.
