About the company
The first cream cheese was made by American dairy farmer William Lawrence in 1872, and the products began to be marketed in 1880 under the name the Empire Company in foil packaging. The brand was later renamed Philadelphia because Philadelphia was considered the capital of the best quality food at the time.
