In the heart of the Ardèche chestnut grove, a family patisserie born in 1907, the Sabaton house has become a reference all over the world! The story began in the restaurant of the Hôtel Terminus in Labégude. Paul Roch Sabaton, owner and chef, starts the production of ready meals and canned mushrooms. He quickly added chestnut cream, which became an instant hit in 1909. The first box of candied chestnuts followed in December 1911. Paul-Roch Sabaton continued its development beyond the borders: the company developed and exported blueberries in syrup, candied chestnuts and chestnut cream to England, America, North Africa and Egypt. After the disappearance of the two partners, Paul Sabaton, the founder's son, bought all the company's shares. In 1975, the first deliveries also started to Japan. The export rate increased from 4% to 20% in this decade. In 2014, the products received the Châtaigne d'Ardèche protected designation of origin, which is a sign of quality at the European level.
