This classic wine of the estate and of the appellation is an archetypal expression of the finesse and elegance of the wines of Côte-Rôtie.
The famous E. Guigal winery was founded by Etienne Guigal in 1946 in the Cotie Rotie region of the northern Rhône Valley. His son Marcel joined him in 1961 and is still actively running the estate. The winery is a pioneer in the Rhone Valley who makes wines in a modern way.
Spent 36 months in oak barrels - 50% new oak. Dark ruby red colour. Spices, red berries and delicate oak aromas on the nose. Round soft tannins. Aromas of rasberry, blackberry and vanilla on the palate. Balance between scarcely perceptible acidity and tannins which add ageing potential and softened by long ageing in oak.
