Dry Gin from Hamburg (Germany), with roots in Portugal. At the Altona Spirit Manufacture, Gin Sul is produced by hand, with great care and attention to detail, by Hamburg's famous gin distillery. Gin Sul's roots, however, lie almost 3000km to the south: On the wild Costa Vicentina in south-west Portugal.

The Altona Spirits Company is based in the centre of Hamburg, and produces solely Gin Sul; a Portuguese inspired Gin. Set up in 2013 by Stephen Garbe, the distillery houses a 100 liter copper pot still.Located in the city center, the distillery used to be home to a carpentry, and before that was used as a warehouse during the Second World War. After a trip to Portugal, Garbe fell in love with the country and wanted to create something as an ode to the local beauty.
This exclusive dry gin is characterised by the finest botanicals, careful distillation in very small batches and subtle hints of Mediterranean citrus. Juniper berries, coriander, rosemary, peppers, lavender, cinnamon and fresh lemons from Portugal are just some of the ingredients which capture the ‘saudade’, or soulful longing, in Gin Sul.
