Sajmeggy came to Hungary during the Turkish occupation, and in the Middle East it is known as mahaleb. The plant contains an alkaloid called kamarin, which gives it its delicate, wildflower scent.

Roland Zimek founded the company together with his wife Martina in 1997. In the beginning, pálinka was made only in small quantities, with contract brewing. From the very beginning, great emphasis was placed on quality. Their dream, a pálinka distillery working with its own cooking equipment, became a reality on December 6, 2005, when they opened their show distillery in Zamárdi.
Its small black berries are thin-fleshed and bitter. A real curiosity, a miracle itself, it has a particularly strong aroma, and the fact that it is marketed at a high alcohol level absolutely does not disturb the harmony of the taste and the body of the pálinka. It is bitter at the same time, but you can feel the sweet character coming from the seed. It is characterized by an incomparable full fruitiness and flavor.
