In 1894, the production cooperative bearing the name of the village of Echiré founded its milk processor specializing mainly in butter production. The artisanal, protected-of-origin butter produced by them is literally the cream of the butters, and thanks to its outstanding quality, it is considered one of the most sought-after ingredients in luxury restaurants and pastry shops around the world.

After the acidification process of almost one day, which develops the taste aromas, the cream is placed in a wooden cask. This production process gives the butter its incomparable taste. Échiré butter is made from milk collected within a specific area, officially designated by the Société de Laiterie Coopérative d'Échiré.
