A great value-for-money blend, the estate's second wine. 56% merlot, 30% cabernet sauvignon, 13% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot from the clayey, gravelly soil of Bordeaux.
It got its name from the plateau near the river near the estate. It has been owned for generations by the Delon family, who manage several famous estates such as Léoville Las Cases and Château Nenin. Cabernet Sauvignon used to be the dominant variety in the 84-hectare area, but today the composition of the plantations has changed significantly: 46% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, 2% Carmenère and 1% Petit Verdot are found on the plateau. The soil of the estate is made special by the sedimentary limestone similar to St. Emilion, which can be found in layers close to the surface on several parcels. The average age of the capitals is 40 years, but there are also capitals older than 80 years. Of the nine Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, this was the only one from the Médoc until they voluntarily left the changed classification system in 2011.
