The "blended" is the entry level sipping whisky of Akashi which is a great introduction to premium Japanese whisky. This whisky is distilled from wheat, barley and rye and was aged in ex-bourbon, sherry and even in shochu casks.
About the company
The Eigashima Shuzo (White Oak) distillery in Akashi, Japan, is one of the oldest distilleries, which originally made sake but now produces whiskey, wine and umeshu liqueur as well. The ninth generation now runs the company in one of the warmest and driest areas in Japan, close to Osaka Bay.
